Election 2010 Hot Topix

Today's Hot Topix - the upcoming elections. They are just 8 days away and both the Dems and Republicans are already claiming control of both the house and the Senate. In reality, no one knows what the outcome will be as the races are too close to call. Polls in the key states show candidates running neck in neck.
In Colorado, the current Republican Senator, Michael Bennett is only points ahead of his challenger, Ken Buck. This is also true in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and California. These will be important states to watch on election day to see which party gains control in Washington!
note: as of this morning most news programs reported a slight edge for Republicans in the key states.
If you are interested in politics you probably love political fiction. It is one of the most popular genres of fiction and one of the best selling. It can also be controversial. One of the best known political fiction authors is Vince Flynn. He writes a wonderful series featuring Mitch Rapp, the latest is the America Assassin. This fast moving and exciting tour ties together partisan politics, the CIA, and Islamic terrorism.
Joel C. Rosenburg writes another popular political fiction series. Beginning with the The Last Jihad, Rosenburg is now on novel number six - The Twelfth Imam. David Balducci introduced many readers to the inside workings of Washington with his Camel Club novels. A new one, Hell's Corner, is set for release on November 9.
Outside of the thriller realm is one of the most popular main-stream novels in recent years - America America by Ethan Canin. This large and satisfying novel focuses on politics and the American dream. It was on many best seller lists when released and continues to be a hit with book clubs and readers.
